Rainy Days in Dallas

I really have to admit, I’m kinda excited for all of the rain this week. But I know a lot of kids who have spring break this week are no where near excited. Despite the fact that I absolutely hate walking around campus when it’s raining, I really love the rain. If you have spring break this week and were hoping for sunshine and blue skies, I’m sorry, that is no where in the forecast. Fortunately, if you’re sticking around Dallas for spring break, these are some awesome activities to keep you busy on the dreary days.

Perot Museum If you’ve never been here, what is wrong with you? Only slightly kidding. This isn’t the normal kiddie museum. The Perot is home to tons of real life, interactive exhibits with everything from earthquake simulators to a faux recording studio sound boxes. There’s also a fabulous area for the younger kids to play without any fear of giant structures falling on their heads. You could really spend an entire day here. From a cafe for lunch, to theaters that host 3-D, scientific flicks, the Perot is definitely for everyone!

Trampoline Parks These are one of the latest trends to hit Dallas, and they are everywhere. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend checking it out. Wall to wall of trampolines, some hosting trampoline dodgeball and other fun activities.

Bush Library & Museum Who wouldn’t want to hang in the oval office? Okay, so maybe it is just a replica, but still, it’s pretty cool. Regardless of your political affiliation, this museum is so informative. There is everything from real artifacts from the Twin Towers, to video footage from former President Bush’s dogs and their time in the White House. While I would totally recommend this for every history buff, there is also a good amount for kids to do too!

Pinstack Move over Main Event, theres a new guy in town. Pinstack has it all. Bowling, arcade games, laser tag, ropes course, and delicious food. That last one is what really got me. You can go bowling and actually have good food! YES! Did I mention they have a “VIP” bowling room/ area for just a few $ more? Yeah, pretty awesome. You could totally load the kids up, have lunch, let them lose in the arcade and then wind down, late afternoon with some bowling. This is a great place to meet up with friends. I may or may not be obsessed with Pinstack.

Dallas World Aquarium This aquarium is fabulous! If being surrounded by sharks and an albino crocodiles is you thing, this place is totally for you. They have every kind of water animal you could thing of, and not to mention, penguins, sloths and lots and lots of birds. This is for sure another all day thing. I’ve tried to do it in half a day, it just doesn’t really work. Plan to have lunch either in their cafe or bring your lunch. And your camera! Don’t forget your camera!

Galleria Dallas If you’re in to shopping, or people watching, or yummy treats, Galleria Dallas is for you. Theres some fabulous shops, a state of the art ice skating rink, and some really yummy treat spots.
Rainy Day in Dallas
Children Aquarium at Fair Park This is the perfect spot for the kiddos! Theres tons of interactive things for them to do to get involved with the animals, and it’s right in the heart of Dallas.
Rainy Day in Dallas
Lakewood Brewery Now, this one is definitely not kid friendly, but it’s tons of fun. Grab a few friends and head to Lakewood brewery for some of their craft beers!
Rainy Day in Dallas
Kidville This spot is totally kid friendly. I’d say more for the younger kid for sure, Kidville is home to tons and tons of small playscape for the little ones. After the littles are all worn out you could totally grab some apps and a drink at one of the delicious spots nearby.
Rainy Day in Dallas
Ten Times Cellars Betcha didn’t know there was a winery right in the heart of Dallas! Well there is. This would be the perfect spot in Dallas to meet up with some friends and grab a savory glass of wine, especially if beer isn’t your thing!
Rainy Day in Dallas
Medieval Times Ready for a show? Because thats exactly what you’ll get here! Dinner and a jousting show to be exact. Which team will you be rooting for? Medieval Times is exactly what it says in its name, it is a dinner theatre show, replicating horse mounted jousting.

Look Cinemas Who doesn’t love seeing a movie on a rainy day? Now, who doesn’t love having a glass of wine, hand delivered to you while watching a movie? I know there are tons of other theatre in DFW that host similar experiences, but if I’m being honest, they all suck compared to Look Cinemas.

Lego Land & Sea Life Aquarium These two, super fun activities are nestled in Grapevine Mills Mall. If you purchase admissions to both, you get a discount (YAY!), but if only one of them appeals to you, thats cool too. Lego land has something for kids of all ages. From rides to giant lego pits, I’d say most kids will have a fabulous time. Sea Life Aquarium is home to a handicap turtle who is a super cool dooode (Finding Nemo reference anymore?) and some awesome interactive things for the kiddies.

Lunar Mini Golf Also nestled in Grapevine Mills is lunar golf. I have to admit, this is super cool, and a ton of fun. Who wouldn’t want to play mini golf with black lights and neon colors surrounding you?
If none of these are your cup of tea, you could always build a fort and have a picnic right in your own living room. Like I said, I really love the rain, and these rainy day activities are among some of my favorites.

  1. Having a list of rainy day activities is a great idea! Most the time I just opt for Netflix, but having a list on hand would let me quickly find something fun to do. Xoxo Mindy

  2. These all look so awesome! I've never actually been to Dallas but I went to a Cowboy's game with my boyfriend last year. I'd love to explore more of Texas at some point!
