It’s certainly no secret that the boyfriend and I are huge Mexican food junkies, so I thought I’d compile a list of some of my favorite restaurants and what I love about them!
Gloria’s

 Chips & Salsa: Probably one of the best parts of this restaurant. In addition to an average size bowl of chips with salsa that is normally full of flavor, you get an a black bean dip that is always delicious.
My normal meal: Normally I get the pork and cheese pupusa for $2.50, which is great because I get filled up on just one and it’s delicious! At times I’ll spring for the chicken soup, but sometimes, it’s a little iffy. Although it is packed full with yummy veggies, it is often quite salty and every once in a while the chicken that is in the soup is not up to par in the least bit.
Boyfriends meal: He almost always gets the chicken fajita nachos. Here, the chicken is grilled, diced and spread over tortilla chips that have beans and cheese on them. We both agree that they’re delicious 99.99% of the time. More recently he has been going for their enchiladas, he gets a combination of 1 red sauce enchilada and 1 white (sour cream) sauce enchilada, which comes with a side of their rice and beans. He always devours it, while I feel as though the red sauce is often a little sour, but the white one never fails me.
Service: This is clearly one of the most controversial things I deal with at this restaurant. Sometimes their service is awesome, and sometimes it’s just plain awful. There is one hostess who I have determined, hates the world, she is always rude, and always has an awful look on her face. Most of the servers are nice, but often times, at lunch (when we got here the most), they are negligent and disconnected. Overall, it’s okay,
Atmosphere: The atmosphere is fairly causal, unless you go on a Friday or Saturday night after 10pm, when it turns into a Salsa dance club and that’s something I have never experienced so I couldn’t tell you what that’s like.
Dress code: I’d say casual, but I’d also say dressy. It’s just one of those places you can pretty much wear whatever you want and be just fine.
Patio: It’s lit with fun colored lighting that it visible on the large palm trees that line the fence. The only downside is that this literally is RIGHT off of the service road of the Tollway, so you get all of that noisy junk in the background, but overall, it’s an awesome patio!
Price: It ranges, I’d say its fairly affordable.
Favorite part of the restaurant: The beans & chips! They’re just YUM!

Anamia’s

My normal meal: SOUP! They have a delicious tortilla soup. It’s light, but full of flavor. Their large isn’t more than $8 and it is MASSIVE!
Boyfriends meal: Chicken fajita nachos! They’re super yummy.
Service: It’s always fairly prompt. They don’t seem very personable, but they’re never rude.
Atmosphere: Always dark in the restaurant, which gives it a little bit of a cozy feel. They have huge booths that feel a little bit like they’re swallowing you, but it’s a good kind of swallow.
Dress code: Same as Gloria’s, you can wear whatever you want whenever you want.
Patio: I don’t think they have one. There is a nice outdoor sitting area in the front of the restaurant, but other than that, no patio.
Price: It’s a little pricey, but it depends on what you get.
Favorite part of the restaurant: 2 things I love about this restaurant. 1- Table side guacamole. Holy guacamole…. It is AWESOME! Easily the best I have ever had, if you go here, you must get it, and get the small if there’s only 2 of you, the “large” is just too big. #2? The people we see there. It’s smack dab in the middle of West Plano, so we’re always bound to run into a celebrity or two… and lucky for me, Thomas normally knows them! On our last outing, Chris Crawford (Tony Romo’s FIL) recognized us Thomas, and chatted with us for a bit. In other times I’ve seen a few different Dallas Cowboys, and Jason Terry.
Micheladas

We’ve only been here once, so this review might be a little biased. We didn’t actually order food, just appetizers.
Food: Queso Esperanza. It’s the equivalent to Mattito’s “Bob Armstrong” dip. All of the fixin’s come on the side, so you put in exactly how much you want of each thing. It was amazing. The queso alone was to die for!
Service: Really good, we had a hilarious waiter.
Atmosphere: Awesome! It’s two stories, the first story was mostly indoor seating (from what I can remember), in sort of an eclectic Spanish setting with lots of Terra Cotta and Spanish designs, very cute! The upstairs is all outdoor seating in a huge area. No matter how much detail I try to describe, it wont do this place justice. The upstairs patio is simply amazing. The photo is obviously without tables and chair, and of course the amazing cloth roof. At night (when we went), it was awesome to see Austin lit up and be able to see out.
Dress code: Very casual
Patio: Incredible, just incredible
Price: Seemed reasonable. Nothing was too over priced.
Favorite part of the restaurant: The upstairs patio.
Mattito’s

My normal meal: Tortilla soup, of course!
Boyfriend’s meal: Chicken fajita nachos (see a pattern yet?)
Service: We like the one in Frisco the best. The service is great here, very friendly servers!
Atmosphere: Laid back!
Dress code: Very casual. It’s right across from Pizza Hut Park, so there’s always some sort of something going on around there.
Patio: It’s decent
Price: Average for Mexican
Favorite part of the restaurant: It’s super laid back.
Blue Mesa

My normal meal: I really don’t have a favorite from here. We usually do the table side guac and I get filled up on that. They also have a yummy brunch buffet that I always take my mom to for fathers day (because she’s the best mom AND dad I could ever ask for)
Service: Great, as long as they’re not busy. The servers normally seem flustered when there’s lots of people
Atmosphere: casual during the week, but a little nicer on the weekends.
Dress code: Dressy/ Casual
Patio: Not sure how it is at the new location!
Price: Higher than an average Mexican restaurant.
Favorite part of the restaurant: N/A

Service: Awesome!
Atmosphere: It’s a smaller restaurant, not a huge chain, so it has an easier going environment.
Dress code: Totally casual
Patio: We haven’t been out to the patio, but it in enclosed by a wall and 3 sides of the restaurant. Next to the patio is a small playground that is also enclosed. Great for families!
Price: Cheap!
Favorite part of the restaurant: The easy going feeling. I just love it. It’s not a chain, so there’s not that hidden pressure or overly trained servers who are constantly being watched. Although it’s tucked into a not so great shopping center, and looks a little sketchy from the outside, it’s an awesome restaurant!

It’s a balmy 30 degrees, and according to weatherchannel.com, it feels like it’s 25! Yikes! We have more rain, ice and snow on the way, so I can only imagine what’s to come in the morning! I hope everyone in the metroplex stays warn and dry!
