T and I love getting out and being adventurous on the weekends! But we also love winding down after all of those adventures! That’s why we always pick up a bottle of Sheep Thrills® Red Blend to have once our adventures are over. Sheep Thrills Red blend has a round and full flavor with strong berry aromas like cherry, plum and lots of yummy spices! It’s easy to reach for a bottle this delicious.
We first heard about Sheep Thrills Wine on their Facebook Page and like always, I headed straight over to their Instagram and started following them (and falling in love with all of their adventurous pictures) there!
Thomas and I have been to quite a few awesome hiking spots in and around the Dallas Metroplex, and we know which ones are the best for a little after-adventure picnic too! We’ve compiled a list of our favorite hiking spots and included a few of our favorite post-hike must haves!

Big Cedar Wilderness Area
One of my favorite true escapes near the city of Dallas. These trails are constantly maintained and are always in great shape. This is definitely one of the harder trails in the area, but if you can make it up to “prayer mountain,” you’ll thank me!
Arbor Hills Nature Preserve
If you’re looking for the perfect urban oasis, Arbor Hills is your spot! There are miles of concrete trail, as well as tons of dirt trails, perfect for any kind of hiking! Making it to the top is a real treat, the lookout area is just gorgeous. The little creek that runs through the property is perfect for cooling off on a hot day, or just hanging out. Get there early, this place gets packed on a nice day!
Oak Cliff Nature Preserve
If you’re looking for a little escape, I highly recommend this hiking spot. With over 120 acres of wooded trails, you could totally get lost in here (in a good way). There are also two small creeks that are perfect to enjoy an after hike picnic and chill.
Piedmont Ridge
This little hidden oasis is a hot spot for seeing true fall colors change. While there aren’t groomed concrete trails, there are lots of groomed, rough trails which make for great adventure! If you look hard enough you can find a bench, made for two, perfect to sit and admire the beauty!
Trinity River Mountain Creek Preserve
With four fabulous miles of hard surface trail, this is the idea hike for just about any hiker!
Especially if you aren’t much of the trekking through the dirt type. There is also a picnic area and a playground. Hiking and biking are both allowed on these trails.
Katie Jackson Park

If you’re looking for something right in the center of the metroplex, look no further! There are roughly five miles of concrete trails, and although this spot is a little more urban than the others, it is perfect for those just wanting to get out and walk!

Whenever T and have picked which trail we’ll be trekking on that day, we pack a “post-adventure” bag filled with some of our favorite things!

The bag usually includes:
Plastic stemless wine glasses
A blanket
Bug Spray
Fruit & Nuts
Some Chocolate
Our Favorite Wine (Sheep Thrills Red Blend, duh)
An Insulated Wine Tote for Storage

If you aren’t much of a red wine lover, Sheep Thrills also has a Pinot Grigio that is DELICIOUS! Head over to the Sheep Thrills Facebook and Instagram page to find other ways to enjoy your #WineWorthTheAdventure
