I haven’t done a weekend wrap up in a while, so I thought I’d share a little look in to my weekend. I so graciously was given a four day weekend by my fabulous boss because they were traveling. PARTAAAY! Kidding, sort of.

We kicked off our four day weekend in one of our favorite ways possible… At the ballpark! Over the last 4 years, Thomas and I have seen over 100 baseball games together, in at least 8 different ballparks. Needless to say, being around baseball is definitely our happy place!

Thursday happened to be same day that we lost a legend, if you’ve been living under a rock, it was Prince. I was so happy to see how The Rangers played tribute to him. So many plugs of “Little Red Corvette,” “Purple Rain” and many others.

Friday, I had a MAJOR school project for one of my classes, and it really had me super worked up all week. I had to engage in a debate on a super controversial topic, and I was given my stance, which meant it was not my own views, and made the research super difficult. None the less, I’m most certain I killed it! Yay!

Saturday afternoon, Thomas and I had some big plans!

After grabbing some cocktails at Neighborhood Services, which will forever be my favorite restaurant, we were ready for an awesome afternoon!

Thomas snagged us tickes to the Off The Rails Country Music Fest back in December. When he told me he bought them, I had no idea what he was even talking about. I hadn’t heard anything about it, and I sure as heck didn’t know the line up. But I know it just couldn’t be anything special because our tickets were way too cheap, especially for two days.

We got to Toyota Stadium around 3 on day 1, and we were so ready to hear some awesome music! It’s crazy to see the changes made at this stadium, considering I was part of the founding families who were able to walk in the opening day parade of this place over 10 years ago!

If you know me, you know I love country music. If you really know me, you know I can’t resist Randy Travis. He is an amazing artists, and has had his fair share of health scares the last few years. Last year, I was able to visit his ranch near the Oklahoma border and was amazed at how gorgeous everything was! Anyways, Randy made an appearance at day 1 of Off The Rails, and I could hardly contain my excitement.

I definitely had no idea what we were in for when we got the tickets for this festival, but it exceeded all expectations and was way better than I could have ever imagined. We had such an awesome time watching all of the performers, despite the fact that the festival was all day long, and we pretty much did nothing around the house, I couldn’t imagine a better weekend!

What’d you do this weekend?

If you follow me on SnapChat, you were able to see a little look into some of our fun this weekend, if you aren’t following me, head over to Snap and hit the follow button y’all- XoXoTffani !

April marks a very important time of the year for me. Right behind Christmas, and my birthday, is one of my favorite holidays of the entire year.. Opening day. And please, do NOT say opening day is not a holiday, because it is! Kidding… Sort of.

Baseball is so much more than just a sport to me. It’s something I grew up with, what started my relationship with Thomas, and what has created some incredible memories throughout the years. It’s not easy for a lot of people to actually believe that a woman can really be interested in baseball, but despite popular belief, it is true. Here is a few of my favorite reasons why you should love the woman who loves baseball!

She is loyal as hell This is a gimme. Most baseball fans are loyal, and by loyal I mean don’t you even mutter a negative word about our team, or you’re dead. Don’t think this wont come in to play in your relationship. Loyalty, whether it be to her team, or the man she loves, is deeply rooted, and won’t be broken.

Just the word superstition alone freaks her out. Curse of the Bambino? This girl can perfectly explain what that was all about, and she might just have to circle the parking lot a few times before the game… You can’t break tradition, and you sure as hell can’t chance the superstitions.
She looks cute in a baseball hat. Hello low maintenance. Men, if your girl is willing to throw on a hat for the game and call it a day, realize just how lucky you are. You won’t be late to the game because she couldn’t get her contouring just right. She isn’t going to be high maintenance 24/7, she’s okay with just winging it, and making do with what she’s got. That being said, she can still dress up and look damn cute while doing it.
Her ESPN app might go off more than yours from April-October.
At dinner and your girls phone won’t stop going off? Don’t worry, its not another guy, its her ESPN or MLB app. Oh, you thought girls didn’t know about that? Good one. No woman goes in to things blind. If a woman has her heart set on something (like any good woman would do with baseball, or a fabulous man) she’s going to capitalize on that in any way. I bet she has a few apps that contain things that would make you happy as well.
You know opening day is as big of a deal to her as Christmas is.
Flowers are great, but every baseball loving girl wants nothing more than you to show up with a bouquet of game tickets for the season.
The thought of making it to October makes her giddy.
Making it to October means so much more to her than getting a damn pumpkin spice latte, it means her team is rocking it. It means everything she has hoped for, and all the long games, and sweaty summer days at the ballpark were so worth it.

I’m really not one to beat around the bush. I’m so ready for this semester to be over, not only because of summer, but because this has semester has been one of the most difficult and long semesters I have endured since beginning college (forever ago).

Here’s my feelings as described by some of my favorite people

I know I’m not the only one feeling this way right about now. With the number of tests and projects currently due, I may never leave my house!

To say I am happy that it’s Monday would be a major lie. Most weeks, I love when Monday rolls around, but I am totally not feeling it this week one bit. After a long, and busy spring break, and an awesome weekend, it’s safe to say I have never dreaded Monday more.

This weekend we had such an amazing time. Usually, Thomas works weekends, but due to an emergency surgery he had earlier in the week(more on that later), he was off this weekend!

If you follow me on Snapchat or Instagram, you saw some delicious pics of our Saturday morning. Thomas and I checked out a new(ish) spot in Dallas called WhiskCrepes, and it was delicious! The shop was so cute, and everyone there was fabulous. But you’ll hear ALL about that later in the week when I wrap up all the awesome eats we had during spring break.

After our delicious breakfast, we decided to head over to The Dallas Farmers Market. We knew the new, indoor area of the market had opened, but we had no idea how fabulous it was. There were tons of delicious restaurants and super cute little shops. We found some awesome prints that are making their way to my office gallery wall, as well as some awesome other goodies. I can’t wait to show off the adorable prints with my office run down in a few weeks!

I spent Saturday night working, and Thomas met my girlies and I for a delicious dinner and some sweet treats after wards.

Sunday afternoon, we met my mom and her best friend for lunch in one of our favorite spots. Kim, my moms friend, and her fabulous boyfriend, are visiting from Michigan for the week. We had to show her the fabulous area of Trinity Groves. Nonetheless, we make a stop at Kate Weiser AND at Cake Bar, both spots were delicious! Kim opted for their strawberry, my mom got the coconut, and I went with my beloved lemon. We were all pretty happy with our picks!

After lunch, we headed over to my moms house for a little get together with friends and family! I prepared this delicious little spread from Trader Joe’s, and everyone loved it! I initially made brownies, but they turned out absolutely awful, so after a little pouting and a quick Trader Joe’s run, I was back in business!

I completely forgot to get a picture with everyone who was at my moms house (sorry y’all!) but we managed to sneak in a picture with Kim & Dave and my fam courtesy of my fabulous selfie stick! We had such an amazing time visiting with them, and I am most certain we will be heading up to the other D, Detroit, to visit them this summer!

We had such an awesome weekend to cap off our spring break week. Like I said, I am totally not feeling this Monday, but what’s a girl to do?

What did you do this weekend?

What? Don’t ask for gifts? Tiffani, you’re crazy. Y’all, I’m really not. I want you to stop asking for material gifts. I’m the first one to admit, I love receiving a nice new handbag for my birthday, or a gift card to Starbucks, but there are FAR better things to ask for. I love adventure, and doing things. Over the last few years, I’ve realized that gifts aren’t really all that. Now, by gifts, I mean stuff. Stuff is what isn’t all that great. Stuff accumulates at the top of your closet and in the bins under your bed. Stuff is really just stuff.

I’m no longer asking for stuff, I’m asking for experiences. Now, I don’t mean I want my friends and family to gift me a trip to Turks & Caicos, but I totally wouldn’t be against that. I mean, instead of a gift, lets go for a hike, lets take a day trip to somewhere we’ve never been, or spend the afternoon at a distillery or brewery. Those are the things I will remember. Those are the things I want you to remember. Gifts are great, I don’t want anyone to think you should not enjoy gifts, but really y’all, when is the last time you looked back on a gift and felt elated with joy because of all of the fabulous memories you made with that gift? Here are a few reasons WHY you should STOP asking for gifts.

1. It’s not possible for everyone to buy you a gift, and if they are, theres a good chance one friend/family member is going to feel bad if they get you a gift that is far below what another person gets you. I know I’ve felt this way before. It’s a crummy feeling. If you make it known that you don’t want gifts, but experiences, friends have more of an opportunity to get creative. I’m almost certain a nature hike and a picnic could be pulled off for under $15, and would be much more memorable than a Starbucks gift card.

2. Stuff accumulates in your closet. Experiences accumulate in your heart. I have tons of bags, I always asked for a new handbag for holidays. Now? I have a closet full of bags, and I regularly use maybe three of them each year, but the memories I have made take up absolutely no space in my home, other than in the picture frames on my walls, and in the memories I cherish.

3. Do you really need whatever it is you’re asking for? Needing a new car or computer is one thing, but needing a new pair of $400 heels? Yeah, I don’t think so. Needs are a total different category. I think it’s totally acceptable to ask for something you need, especially if you can’t afford it yourself.

4. You are way more likely to find a new passion doing something as opposed to getting something. Groupon is a great way for people to gift experiences at a low cost. Wether it be a massage or a two hour flying trapeze class, go out on a limb and go for whatever it is.

5. In 15 years, the stuff you asked for is going to be worn down and old. You’re going to continue to want new stuff when your old stuff becomes weathered. Why not just skip the stuff?

Wether you’re gifting a friend a short day trip to the next city over, or gifting your girlfriend a ticket to a blogger conference (thanks T!), they are going to remember that experience for far longer than the bundle of stuff you picked up from TJ Maxx for them!

Stuff lasts a few years, memories last a lifetime.

This post was totally inspired by Thomas gifting me with my Ticket to Thrive Blog Conference, which just so happens to be THIS WEEKEND! I am so excited to be heading down to Houston tomorrow, and to see what Thrive is all about!

I really could not have asked for a better weekend. If you read last weeks post or follow me on Twitter, you know I was in a pretty bad car accident last week, and unfortunately, over the weekend, I was notified that it was a total loss. BUT, I was not ready to focus on that this weekend.

The weather in Dallas was absolutely phenomenal this weekend, we were in the high 60’s and 70’s this weekend. Thomas and I started our Friday off with lunch on the patio at our favorite spot, Neighborhood Services! We have an undying love for this place, and their wedge will always be my favorite!

Friday afternoon, I took the cutes I nanny to BerryNaked, which is an all natural Popsicle joint with tons of delicious, mostly healthy options! The girls loved the idea of “healthy” Popsicles and they really enjoyed the display cases filled with a colorful assortment of delicious pops! We will certainly be back.

Friday night, we headed to one of our favorite new spots in Addison for dinner. I can not wait to share more about that fabulous spot!

Saturday was spent lounging around, well at least for me. Thomas has been so phenomenal with picking up my chore duties while fully recover from my accident, so he got lots of cleaning done!

Sunday morning we headed to breakfast with Thomas family! We opted for one of our favorite spots, Crossroads Diner! I’ve talked about them before, but seriously, their sticky buns are heaven! They recently moved to a new location, just down the street from our new house, and we could not be happier with the proximity. As always, the sticky buns did not disappoint!

If you read last Thursday’s post about how I struggle when plans are changed, you know I really like sticking to my plans. Well, my plan since November was to buy a new Macbook. With four months of planning behind me, a few gift cards from Christmas and my birthday in my purse, we headed to the Apple Store.

I thought I knew what I wanted walking in, but I ended up leaving with a little nicer model than I planned. So maybe I don’t hate change when it’s a good change, but really, who does? If you follow me on SnapChat, you know I had a very old MacBook that was finally starting to slow down. After transferring all of my old photos to an online source and putting all of my files on The Cloud, I was finally read to move on. I’m so thankful to have received that one in high school from my mom. It got me through a LOT of school work, and helped me start this little space I now call my own! I am so excited to put my new MacBook to good use!

Now that the weekend has come and gone, it’s back to the grind of school, work, and finding a new car. Happy Monday y’all!

With valentines day being this weekend, and love being in the air, I think it’s really important for everyone to remember how important loving yourself is! While I think and know it’s a great feeling to love and be loved by someone, it is most important to understand how to actually love yourself. It’s easy for women in particular to get so consumed in a relationship that you forget all about the “me” factor. Here’s a few ways to Love Yo’ Self this V-day.

1. Spend time with yourself. This is a biggie y’all. I’m thankful to have this space as my outlet that I can do alone. I don’t need someone helping me with every aspect, I don’t have to take each post to an editor, I just do it. All by myself. There are days, I just simply enjoy sitting down at my desk, and doing nothing. Sometimes it means writing a new post, some days, it’s adding $700 worth of junk to my Amazon cart and then just leaving it, and some days it just means going for a drive by myself. Some days, being alone is great.

2. Focus on your strengths. You have things you’re good at, and you have things you suck at. But if you are only thinking about the things you suck at, how are you ever going to get better at the things you’re good at. Write down the things you love, or are really good at and embrace them.

3. Stop comparing yourself to anything. When you think about it, theres only one you, and YOU get to be whatever kind of you you want to be. Just let that sink in for a minute. Embrace yourself, because the models in magazines are airbrushed and the “perfect-life” people are hiding something too. Just think about how lucky you are that you get to wake up every single day and live life in whatever way you want to live.

4. Forgive yourself. There are days where I get so mad that I’ve screwed something up, overcooked a steak, or totally neglected my to-do list, and I’m so upset that I literally can’t function. That may be a bit exaggerated, but seriously, get the heck over it y’all. Forgive yourself, and forgive yourself often, especially when it’s something only you can control. Staying mad at yourself is just silly.

5. Set goals for yourself. Set reasonable goals, and rock them. Even if it’s just to wake up 10 minutes earlier every day, set that goal and accomplish it. Goals get categorized as “impossible” far too often. Goals do not have to be impossible, and they should never be impossible.

6. Never apologize for your beliefs. This shouldn’t even be a thing, but lately, I am seeing this more and more. You have beliefs and values for a reason, you have developed them all on your own, and YOU deserve to be able to believe in them all you want. When a person questions your beliefs, they’re more than likely trying to test you. Don’t give in. They’re YOUR beliefs for a damn good reason. Stick to them, and love them.

7. Most importantly, talk to yourself the way you talk to someone you love.

Loving yourself is so much more than just being like “hey girl, you rock.” I learned to love myself at a time when I thought I was truly unlovable. After being in an awful relationship for almost two years, with a person who was so wrong for me, I realized I meant more to myself than any boy ever should. I began putting these tips in to action, and realized how good it felt to love myself. Then, more than ever before, I was thinking for myself and actually focusing on my wants and needs, rather than someone else.

That being said, after spending quite a bit of time loving myself, I was able to understand how to love someone else, and at the most perfect time, someone walked in to my life. The best part about my relationship with Thomas, is we know how to love ourselves, and while that may sound a bit selfish, it is the basis of our relationship and I couldn’t be more thankful for it!

This weekend seriously felt never-ending. Not in a bad way, just in a when-is-Monday-going-to-be-here kind of a way. I’m almost certain it felt that way because I go so much done around the house, and after doing nothing the last two weeks, it wore me out.

Friday, Thomas and I went to Nebraska Furniture Mart (again) to look for a new couch. I get so lost in this place with all of the various furnishings and cute room layouts. Unfortunately, we couldn’t decided on a couch and left empty handed. Hopefully we’ll find one we like this week!

Saturday was left for (sorta) sleeping in, decorating, a little shopping and celebrating. It was Sophie’s birthday! My sweet pup turned 5, and we celebrated with some doggy treats and lots of love.

I was able to get almost all of our decor up on our walls and styled on our shelves. I don’t think I ever realized how hard it would be to reposition all of the decor from our previous home to this one. It was a bit of a struggle, but I’m almost done and can’t wait to share the final outcome. We also hit up the Galleria for a little shopping. Thomas was in the market for some new Lululemon sweats and I needed a few pieces for an upcoming blog conference. I also managed to pick up my bracelet from Tiffany’s!

Every year for Christmas Thomas gives me a new Tiffany’s charm for my bracelet. This year, he gave me an airplane to represent our love for traveling. The only bad part is, they send my bracelet away for 2 weeks to be soldered on, as well as polished. I am SO happy to have it back!

Sunday was reserved for our usual household chores, grocery store run and an attempt at a DIY. If you follow me on SnapChat, you saw the start of one of my most anticipated DIY’s, but sadly, It did NOT turn out the way I wanted. Eventually the process will get done, but yesterday was not the day. We spent the game with the cuties I nanny, and they loved having Mr. Thomas along for the night.

Overall, I think the weekend got the best of me, because I am worn out today. What did you do this weekend?

Have you ever been scrolling through Facebook and you see one of those posts titled “Why there are better things than being tied down at 20,” or “Why you don’t need a man in your 20’s?” Yeah, I do. All. The. Time. Some days I ignore them and keep scrolling, but sometimes, I indulge and read them… Only to find myself annoyed. Really annoyed.

I met Thomas when I was 18 years old. We started “talking” the week of my senior prom actually. He’s been my best friend ever since.

In said posts, I see words like independence, career, experiment, experience, and one of my favorites, be selfish. Those words really get me thinking. Have I not learned to be or do any of those things? Have I missed out on the glory of being single in my 20’s? The answer is no. In no way am I, or any other girl who is tied down in her 20’s prevented from establishing independence, building a career, experimenting and experiencing things in life, and being selfish- because we all know I can be selfish.

I have learned to be/do all of those things because I wanted to. I had the desire to establish my independence because I never wanted to be the girl who brought her boyfriend to everything or was always tagging along. I have established a job that I adore while finishing college, I have experimented and experienced things in life that I could have never dreamed. And lastly, I have been more selfish than in my entire life, because before loving someone else, I had to learn to love myself.

Thomas and I have established a balance in life that I wouldn’t have expected to have until well in to my 30’s with another person. Being tied down in my 20’s proved to be one of the best things that could have happened to me.

I am tied down to someone who shares a love of traveling, and has taken me to cities I would have only dreamed of going to in my early 20’s. I am tied down to someone who loves fine food, random Netflix documentary binges and laughing our butts off for absolutely no reason. While being tied down might sound awful, it s<strike>ounds</strike> IS pretty great for me.

No one is saying you have to be tied down in your 20’s, and no one is saying you have to be single in your 20’s.

I made the choice to be with someone in my 20’s, and while some of the “20 things better than being tied down at 20” sounds slightly enticing, I could name 200 reasons why being tied down in your 20’s is just as great as being single.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I mentioned that Thomas and I had finally found a house! A townhouse actually, and it was pretty much everything we wanted. That being said, it was time to start prepping for a move. This is technically the only move we’ve made together, considering the last move was each of us moving from our own spaces to one space together. With this move, we are both learning what really works and what doesn’t. Here’s a few of the things that do work!

Make a GIANT list of everything you could possibly need to get done before your move. Hang it where everyone involved in the move can see to assure that nothing is forgotten about. I prefer using a whiteboard or chalkboard so it’s easy to erase each task as you complete it!

Create a schedule for the week before the move. Write down a few things that need to be done each day.

Get a tape gun. I moved quite a bit from 8th grade to my Junior year of high school. Tape guns made things a LOT easier.

Don’t buy tons of moving boxes. Think economically… Use laundry baskets, extra suitcases, boxes from previous Amazon purchases, or anything that can hold stuff! A lot of times, your friends have their old moving boxes just laying in their garage, just ASK! Scan resources like Facebook Garage sale sites, NextDoor or Craigslist!

Pack your most valuable things in your suitcase and move it yourself in your own car. We packed up all the contents of our DIY BAR in bubble wrap and packed them neatly in our suitcases… Can’t have broken alcohol, or more importantly broken WINE bottles!

If you must pack open bottles, place a small piece of plastic wrap under the lid and put the lid back on, over the plastic wrap. NO ONE likes opening a box and having something spilled all over everything.

Come up with a labeling system. Whether it’s using numbers as room guides or just writing what room each goes in, do it! Label “fragile” on anything that could possibly break and don’t forget a small description on boxes! Nothing is worse than having no idea whats in the 8 boxes labeled “bedroom!”

Put screws and small pieces in to labeled zip-loc bags so nothing gets separated from the bunch.

Don’t move anything you don’t want to keep. Try selling furniture you don’t want to move on Craigslist or Facebook garage sales… Not only will it cut down on the stuff you have to move, but it’ll put a little extra cash in your pockets.

Use the money from items you sell towards moving expenses… Or toward the new furniture you’ve been eyeing Whatever works best for you.

Don’t bother folding and packing clothes from your closet. cut open a small hole in the bottom of a trash bag and slide the bag over your clothes. Thomas did this when he moved home from college a few years back and I was amazed. It’s genius and makes closet transport so much easier.

Make a box/basket/bag of things you KNOW you’ll need on your first night at your new place.

Don’t buy a ton of furniture before you get in to your new space. It means more you have to move and you never know exactly how things will fit! Just wait!

Organize boxes in your home by room. Each room will have all of its contents loaded at the same time so each room will be unloaded at the same time.

Most importantly! Don’t freak out! Everything is going to be okay!

There yah go! These are just some of my most used and trusted tips. Hopefully these will help you the next time you’re planing a big move.
