If you’re looking for the best food in London or the best places to eat in London, it’s not going to be hard to find… Because delicious London food is everywhere! London is home to one of the most delectably diverse food scenes we’ve ever encountered. This may come as a surprise, but while we were there (in Fall of 2019) we ate a LOT of delicious food. Everything from classic fish and chips to foods we had never even heard of! With the help of our friends who live in London, who were so gracious to tell us about their favorite spots, to all of the research we did, we can definitely say we found some of the best restaurants in London, especially for first timers! Also, check out our comprehensive guide to your first time in London.

Best Food in London

Restaurants in Bloomsbury

Half Cup

This was our go-to spot for tea on our trip! We stopped in multiple times for a tea in the morning or for a quick afternoon tea in the afternoons. Lots of great teas options, quick service and they have a punch card if you’re a regular visitor.

49 Cafe

Breakfast in London, done right! We finally tried this little spot which was right around the corner from our AirBnB in London, on our last official morning of the trip. They served a traditional english breakfast and some of the most delicious eggs benedict we’ve ever had! Super simple, no frills cafe, but absolutely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

49 Cafe

Morish

A coffee shop on the same street of our Airbnb that we stopped in one day and had one of the best latte’s we’ve ever had. Golden milk or better known as a turmeric latte. It was so tasty and different. Gold is definitely what it was.

The Marquis Cornwall Pub

A traditional pub with spectacular beer battered cod and chips. The fish is fried to a delicate crunchy texture served with tasty fries and mushy peas. All the feels with this one.

Borough Market food

Hash

Mac and cheese topped with pulled pork right in the heart of Borough Market. Enough said y’all.

Hash

Boxpark Shoreditch

There are quite a few foods markets in London, but this was might have been the coolest. Made out of old shipping containers, Boxpark Shoreditch is home to tons of great food stalls as well as small shops selling all kinds of goods. We grabbed some halloumi fries (more on these later), dumplings and soft serve, after visiting one of London’s amazing markets…all of which were mind-boggling delicious!

Poptata

Food at Camden Market

Cereal Killer Cafe

If you’re looking for a classic throwback spot, this is it. Complete with all of your favorite 90’s themed cereals and every other piece of 90’s paraphernalia – we’re talking cabbage patch kids, Care Bear bedspreads and so much more. You can grab a good ole bowl of cereal, or you can do everything your mother always said not to get ice cream with cereal, hot chocolate with cereal and more. Whether you’re craving a sugar rush or the nostalgia from London’s Cereal Cafe, this place is the spot!

Cereal Killer Cafe

Ink Fish Bar

No trip to London or The UK is complete without fish and chips! It’s one of the most loved dishes and it might be the best duo of any two foods! Ink Fish has one of the best around. It’s fried to a nice crisp texture on top of a pile of fries and they throw some peppers on top for added flavor. Get some tarter sauce and start munchin’ on your delicious meal!

Ink Fish Bar

Oli Baba’s

Two words y’all… Halloumi fries. we have NEVER seen these in the US! But these little sticks of fried cheese are absolutely to die for. Oli Baba’s Camden Market claims to be the originator of this to-die-for snack. They usually come topped with some sort of sauce and they are melt in your mouth good. We had quite a few of them while we were in the UK, but the halloumi fries at Oli Baba’s might have been our favorite!

Oli Baba’s

Covent Garden Restaurants

Maison Bab

We met our friends Oscar and Kate, who we met on our honeymoon in Antigua, here for dinner! It’s a super chic spot with the most amazing, made in house Kebabs, we’ve ever had. We ordered the fried chicken kebab, the 15 hour, slow cooked pork kebab and fries with the fondue and the Iskender sauce… All of it was drop your jaw amazing. There are tons of great Covent Garden restaurants, Maison Bab is one of the stars and one of the best restaurants in London.

Maison Bab

City of London

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese

With regulars like Mark Twain and Charles Dickens, you know this place is good. This not-so-little spot is one of the oldest pubs in London. You have to travel down a few flights of stairs to enter in to (what feels like a dungeon) the bar area. We popped in late-afternoon for a bite to eat and a few drinks. It’s dark, dingy, and there’s not a lot of light, but the food is divine, the drinks are delicious and the company we had was even better. We ate bangers and mash and tomato soup and it was absolutely heavenly.

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese

Byron

This burger spot was highly recommend to us by some friends! Sometimes every now and then you crave something isn’t known for but you try and it’s really really good. That’s Byron. One night, Tiff had a migraine and she really just wanted a burger, fries and a shake. ed Byron was recommended to us by our awesome British friends, Richard and Hayley, so we decided to try it. Byron is a big chain throughout London and each store has a different set up and design. It was a kick ass burger and fries and the shakes tasted every bit like an American shake. It helped cure her migraine as well so I’d say it was well worth it.

Kensington

Town House at the Kensington

We were lucky enough to enjoy high tea at Town House at The Kensington and it just might have been the best high tea in London! Their London Landmarks tea was so uniquely London and everything it came with was delicious and on the London Eye. Town House at the Kensington is easily one of the best restaurants in London and for sure one of the best high teas in London!

London Landmarks Afternoon Tea

King’s Cross

Lola’s Cupcakes

Another place recommended by Rich and Hayley, catching a theme here? Clearly, they know their food. This one is all about sweet cupcakes and boy are they sweet! Lots of delicious choices in regular and mini size cupcakes. They pack a punch of flavor and are easily some of the best cupcakes we’ve ever had. We went with the lemon and salted caramel. Both hit the spot!

Knightsbridge
