Ida Like Some more Ida Claire

I don’t know how this hasn’t come sooner, really. Ida Claire is the newest spot in Addison and it is HOT! If you’re a fan of the slightly overpriced, yet delicious, Knox-Henderson spot, Sissy’s Southern Kitchen, you’ll be in heaven at Ida Claire. With a rustic-chic feel with a bit of eclectic thrown in, this new Addison gem is putting Sissy’s to shame.
The menu is presented as a story book, with one delicious story!
The prologue boasts some delicious meal starters, with things like Creole Gumbo, Pecan Wood Roasted Oysters, and our personal selection of Crawfish Corn Fritters!
It was so hard to choose just one, but there was absolutely no disappointment with our Crawfish Corn Fritters. They had a similar texture to a hush puppy, but way better than any hush puppy I have ever feasted on. The little balls of deliciousness come with a Smoked Mustard Remoulade, that complements them perfectly.
Thomas snagged the Tobacco Peach Julep. He loved it… I’m not much for whiskey, but even I didn’t hate it!
For my main dish, It was a huge toss up between the Crawfish Ravoli and the Chicken in a Biscuit…. I chose the Chicken in a Biscuit. This, not so little entree was crazy good.
The giant, homemade biscuit was topped with peppered bacon gravy, spinach, tomato and an egg sunny side up. The combination was delightful. Normally it comes with a side of okra salad, but as Tracey, our FABULOUS waitress informed us, we could sub that out for any of their other side options. I opted for the Celery Root Mash. Not sure if the celery root taste was supposed to be prominent, or not, but these were some darn good mashed potatoes! A must try!
Thomas chose their Ida Like A Burger… Really, it should be named Ida Love Even Bite of This Damn Burger. It is incredible. It puts The Rustic burger to shame, and beats out our beloved burger from Neighborhood Services. It is THAT good people! And that little cup of cheese goodness? That’s the Pimento Mac & Cheese. The pimento taste isn’t too strong, but when paired with the delectable shape of these noodles, there is NO beating it.
We ended the night with the Bartenders cake and their incredible French Press coffee. Although neither of us were THAT crazy about the cake, the coffee has us both begging for more.
All in all, this was an amazing meal, and with the extremely reasonable prices, I foresee spending quite a few of our nightly dining outings here.
